El Buen Fin 2026, the 16th edition of Mexico’s national sale, runs from Friday, November 13 to Tuesday, November 17, according to the 2026 operating rules published by the Ministry of Economy (Secretaría de Economía). The five days include the Revolution Day holiday on Monday, November 16. The consumer protection agency Profeco takes complaints, and the tax authority SAT runs a prize draw for card purchases of MXN 250 or more.

When is El Buen Fin 2026?

El Buen Fin 2026 starts on Friday, November 13 and ends on Tuesday, November 17. The rules, dated June 23, 2026, move the sale from its usual Thursday-to-Monday pattern to Friday-to-Tuesday, and they state that the period includes the rest day for the November 20 anniversary of the Revolution, which the Federal Labor Law moves to the third Monday of November. Our list of Mexico’s official public holidays explains how those Monday holidays work.

Edition Year Dates
14th 2024 November 15 to 18
15th 2025 November 13 to 17
16th 2026 Friday, November 13 to Tuesday, November 17

The program belongs to the federal government and is organized with business groups. The 2026 rules name Concanaco Servytur, the Business Coordinating Council (CCE), the retail association ANTAD, the banking association ABM, the broadcasters’ chamber CIRT and the internet association AIMX as founding members. Businesses had until November 12 at 23:59 to register on the official portal and use the Buen Fin logo. According to the rules, more than 215,000 businesses took part in the 2025 edition.

How do meses sin intereses work?

Meses sin intereses (MSI, “months without interest”) split a credit card purchase into equal monthly payments with no interest, as long as each payment is made on time. The store or the bank pays for the financing. Nothing about it is free money: the full price is still owed, and it shows up on every statement until the last installment.

The financial consumer agency CONDUSEF has repeated the same warnings for years:

  • The monthly installments come on top of the minimum payment on the rest of your card balance.
  • An installment that is not paid on time turns into ordinary debt and starts to earn interest.
  • Total debt payments should stay under about 30% of your income.
  • Check that the promotion is printed on the voucher before you sign, keep the voucher, and review your December statement for charges you do not recognize.

A simple comparison helps. A TV priced at MXN 12,000 on 12 MSI costs MXN 1,000 a month for a year (our calculation). If the same store offers 10% off for paying in one go, the price falls to MXN 10,800. CONDUSEF suggests choosing MSI only for things that last longer than the payment plan, and Profeco’s 2026 Buen Fin advice adds that paying off existing debts or prepaying bills such as predial property tax can be a better use of the money.

How can you tell if a discount is real?

Compare the sale price with the price history before you buy. Profeco runs a Buen Fin edition of its price comparison tool, Quién es Quién en los Precios (“who’s who in prices”), at elbuenfin.profeco.gob.mx. According to Profeco’s October 15, 2026 bulletin, you filter by city, pick a category and then a product by brand and model; the tool shows the minimum, maximum and average price, how the price has changed and the address of each store.

The 2026 list covers 15 product types: speakers, sound bars, cameras, computers, tablets, mobile phones, TVs, projectors, vacuum cleaners, irons, refrigerators, stoves, washing machines, fans and air extractors.

  1. Write down or screenshot the price of what you want in the days before November 13.
  2. Check its history in Quién es Quién en los Precios.
  3. On the day, compare the final price, delivery time, return policy and warranty, which Profeco lists as the points to read before paying.
  4. Keep the receipt, the ad and any screenshots. They are your evidence if the store does not honor the offer.

Under Article 7 Bis of the Federal Consumer Protection Law, stores must display the total amount to pay in a visible way. Profeco has warned businesses, restaurants among them, against adding a surcharge for paying by card; if a shop tries to charge one, you can report it to Profeco.

How do you file a complaint with Profeco?

Complain first to the store, then to Profeco if the problem is not solved. The 2026 rules say Profeco will advise shoppers, take complaints and run on-the-spot conciliation through Conciliaexprés, its 38 consumer defense offices (ODECOs) and seasonal service modules. Participating businesses must give Profeco a contact person who can settle disputes.

  • By phone: the Consumer Telephone (Teléfono del Consumidor), 55 5568 8722 in Mexico City or 800 468 8722 toll-free.
  • Online: Profeco’s online complaint system, Concilianet, works for companies that have signed an agreement with Profeco. You upload your ID on both sides and proof of purchase, such as a receipt or invoice; each file must be under 1 MB.
  • In person: at an ODECO or a Buen Fin module, with ID and proof of purchase.

If a store is not on the Concilianet list, file in person. Problems with the bank itself, such as an installment plan that was not applied, go to CONDUSEF rather than Profeco. For tax records of a big purchase, you can also request a factura from the store.

How does the SAT prize draw work?

The Sorteo El Buen Fin 2026 pays out a pool of MXN 500 million in more than 300,000 prizes, according to the SAT’s 2026 draw page. Shoppers take part automatically when they spend MXN 250 or more between November 13 and 17 with a credit or debit card from a participating bank. The SAT says the list of banks is published on November 13.

Step Date (2026)
Qualifying purchases November 13 to 17
Check whether you are in the draw (card number) From November 27
Live draw December 4
Results published December 7

Only cards from participating Mexican banks count, so purchases on a card issued abroad do not enter the draw. This article explains general rules and is not financial or legal advice; your bank, CONDUSEF or Profeco decide individual cases.

Bottom line

Pick the two or three things you actually need, record their prices this week and check them in Profeco’s tool before November 13. Use MSI only if the monthly payment fits your budget alongside your normal card payments, and save every voucher until your December statement arrives.

FAQ

Is November 16 a day off during El Buen Fin 2026?

Yes. Monday, November 16 is the official rest day for Revolution Day in 2026, and it falls inside the sale. Stores stay open, while most offices and schools close.

Can I return something I bought in El Buen Fin?

Returns follow the store’s policy, which must be stated before you pay, so read it first. Defective products are a separate matter: the warranty applies, and Profeco handles complaints if the store refuses.

Are online Buen Fin sales covered too?

Yes. Registered online stores take part, and Profeco monitors online offers. Check the seller’s identity, delivery date and return terms, and pay with a card so you can dispute the charge with your bank if the order never arrives. Orders shipped from abroad can owe import taxes; see our guide to import taxes on online orders.

Does paying with MSI cost more than paying cash?

It can. Some stores offer a bigger discount for a single payment than for installments, so compare the final price under each option. The installment plan itself should not add interest if every payment is made on time.
